RSG is seeking an Analyst to join our Transit Forecasting Team. This role will focus on utilizing statistical methods and data processing techniques to develop travel model inputs and support various consulting engagements. The position may be remote or based from an RSG office in Burlington/White River Junction, VT | Portland, OR | Chicago, IL | Washington, DC | Denver, CO.
As a member of our team, you have a keen interest in transportation and possess a strong foundation in statistical analysis, data analysis or programming. Successful candidates will be responsible for collaboratively developing travel models using advanced data analysis techniques, applying novel programming solutions and gaining familiarity with tools such as the FTA STOPS model and other modeling packages.
Candidates should be passionate about leveraging data-driven insights to enhance clients' transit forecasting capabilities. The ideal candidate will be proactive, detail-oriented, and possess strong problem-solving skills. An ability to communicate with clients, team members, and stakeholders, both verbally and in writing through informal interactions as well as through written reports and presentations is required.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop travel demand models to support ridership studies
Works with little guidance and as part of project teams supporting a variety of projects
Manages multiple tasks that are part of projects with an increasing amount of responsibility
With guidance from supervisor will help design and develop components of research protocols.
Organizes, processes data sets and conducts analysis using appropriate tools (e.g. R, Python, SQL, Excel, Julia)
With oversight from supervisor, applies standard analytical techniques outlined in protocols to inform analysis.
With guidance and oversight from supervisor, writes client reports, presentations, and may be asked to present to clients
May be asked to coordinate with subcontractors or vendors to assist with project tasks and delivery.
With direction, may be asked to present to clients
Continues to build domain knowledge and technical capabilities
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
Bachelors or masters degree in transportation, market research, statistics, math, economics, psychology, geography, engineering, or a similarly relevant field of study
1-2 years of professional experience, prior experience with travel model or transportation planning
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Working knowledge of 4-step travel demand modeling process, including discrete choice modeling
Experience using FTA STOPS, TransCAD, CUBE, VISUM, or EMME
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Experience in one or more RSG domains
Strong analytic, quantitative and problem-solving skills
Extremely organized, detail-oriented, resourceful and flexible
Demonstrated ability to deliver high quality work on a timeline in a high pressure environment
Demonstrated ability in written and verbal communication with team members and clients
Demonstrated ability to speak and present in group settings
Demonstrated ability to apply a broad range of analytic techniques using statistical packages (R, Python, Julia, Excel)
Demonstrated ability to work both independently and on a team
Ability to follow directions, standards, and guidelines
Effective interpersonal skills
Demonstrated experience in research methods and/or behavioral modeling
Ability to perform field-based data collection
